Premium paternity test: 31-marker Duo test

The DNA Center’s premium paternity test, based on 31 genetic markers, offers the highest level of accuracy and is specifically designed for more complex cases. This test is an excellent choice when the standard 24-marker paternity test does not provide sufficient evidence, such as in cases where paternity must be determined between two closely related individuals (e.g., a father and son or two brothers).

When is the 31-marker test needed?

The 31-marker Duo paternity test is particularly useful in more complex cases, such as:

• Paternity disputes involving close relatives: When determining paternity between two brothers or a father and son, the 31-marker analysis provides greater accuracy, minimizing the risk of incorrect results.
• Cases requiring higher genetic precision: In situations where the standard 24 markers are insufficient, the 31-marker test offers a more definitive result.

How is the sample collected?

The test does not require a laboratory visit; sample collection can be conveniently performed at home. When you order the test, the DNA Center will send a specialized sample collection kit via mail. Using this kit, DNA samples can be collected easily and painlessly, usually through a buccal (cheek) swab.

Steps for sample collection:

1. Use the provided swab to gently rub the inside of the cheek, rotating the swab several times to collect cells.
2. Place the swab into the labeled sample envelope following the instructions.
3. Return the samples, along with the completed data form and proof of payment, to the DNA Center by mail or deliver them in person to our office.

What does the sample collection kit include?

• Swabs for the number of participants in the test.
• One pre-labeled sample envelope per participant.
• A data form to be filled out, signed, and returned with the samples. The form should include the type of test, participant information (name or alias, and optionally date of birth), the date of sample collection, and how/where the results should be sent (email address and/or postal address). It should also include the payer’s name and address for invoicing purposes.
• Detailed instructions on how to proceed (guidance for sample collection and form completion, along with the return address and bank account details for payment).
• A yellow postal check, if check payment is chosen.

Results and accuracy

Paternity test results are typically ready within 10–12 days and are delivered to the client via mail or email. The 31-marker test provides greater genetic accuracy, ensuring more reliable results, particularly in complex genetic cases. The results are based on the latest technology and are analyzed by experienced genetic experts.
