STANDARD Paternity Test: 24-marker DUO Test
The STANDARD paternity test offered by the DNA Center is a basic-level test based on 24 genetic markers, providing definitive results to determine the biological relationship between a child and an alleged father. This test is also referred to as a "DUO" test, as it compares the DNA of two individuals—the child and the alleged father.

How is the sample collected?

The test does not require a visit to a laboratory; the sample collection can be conveniently performed at home. Upon ordering the test, the DNA Center sends a special sampling kit via mail. Using this kit, a DNA sample can be easily and painlessly collected, typically with a cheek swab.

Steps for Sample Collection:

• Use the provided swab to perform a quick swab on the inside of the cheek (buccal mucosa) by gently rotating the swab a few times.
• Place the swabs into the sample holder envelope as per the provided instructions.
• Return the collected samples along with the completed request form and proof of payment to the DNA Center. This can be done via postal mail to the address specified in the instructions or submitted in person at our clinic.

What does the sampling kit include?

• Sampling tools for the number of individuals participating in the test.
• A pre-labeled sample holder envelope for each individual.
• A data form to be filled out, signed, and returned with the samples (this form should include the type of test requested, participant information—name or alias, and optionally date of birth—the date of sample collection, and how/where the results should be sent [email address and/or postal address]. The name and address of the person paying for the test are also required for invoicing purposes).
• Detailed instructions on the required steps (assistance with sample collection and form completion, as well as the return address and bank account details for payment).
• A postal check for payment, if chosen as the payment method.

What happens in the laboratory?

Once the samples are received, the laboratory initiates the test. During the paternity test, our specialists analyze 24 distinct genetic markers. These markers are specific points on the DNA highly suitable for detecting biological relationships. The test is highly reliable, as analyzing 24 markers allows for extremely accurate determination of whether the tested individual is the biological father of the child.

Results and Accuracy

The results are typically available within 3–4 working days after the samples are received by the laboratory. The results are sent to the client either by mail or email. A 24-marker paternity test usually provides a probability of 99.999% or higher when the alleged father cannot be excluded. If the test concludes that the tested man cannot be the biological father, the probability of paternity is 0%, and the result will indicate that it is excluded that the tested individual is the biological father of the child.

The selection of the 24 markers used in the paternity test is based on the latest genetic research, ensuring the most accurate and reliable results.
