Premium paternity test: 31-marker Trio test

The DNA Center’s 31-marker Trio paternity test provides the highest level of accuracy, especially in complex cases where biological paternity is unclear. This test is particularly useful in situations where the standard 24-marker paternity test is insufficient, such as when determining paternity between two close relatives (e.g., a father and son or two brothers). The Trio test examines DNA samples from the child, the mother, and the alleged father.

When is the 31-marker Trio test recommended?

The 31-marker Trio paternity test is advised in the following cases:

• Complex genetic cases: When determining paternity between two brothers or a father and son, the 31-marker analysis ensures higher accuracy, minimizing the risk of errors.
• Insufficient results from the 24-marker test: In cases where the 24-marker test does not provide conclusive results, the 31-marker test offers greater precision and confidence.

How is the sample collected?

The test does not require a laboratory visit; sample collection can be done conveniently at home. Upon ordering the test, the DNA Center sends a specialized sample collection kit by mail. Using this kit, DNA samples can be collected easily and painlessly, usually with a buccal (cheek) swab.

Steps for sample collection:

• Use the provided swab to gently rub the inside of the cheek (buccal mucosa), rotating the swab several times to collect cells.
• Place the swabs into the labeled sample envelope following the included instructions.
• Return the samples, along with the completed data form and proof of payment, to the DNA Center by mail or deliver them in person to our office.

What does the sample collection kit include?

• Sampling tools for the number of participants in the test.
• One pre-labeled sample envelope per participant.
• A data form to be completed, signed, and returned with the samples. This form should include the type of test requested, participant details (name or alias, and optionally the date of birth), the date of sample collection, and the preferred method and address for receiving the results (email and/or postal address). It should also include the payer’s name and address for invoicing purposes.
• Detailed guidance on the process (instructions for sample collection and form completion, including the return address and bank account details for payment).
• A yellow postal check if this payment method is selected.

Results and accuracy

Paternity test results are typically ready within 10–12 days and are sent to the client via mail or email. The 31-marker test offers greater genetic accuracy, ensuring more reliable results, especially in complex cases. The results are based on the latest technologies and are conducted by experienced genetic experts.
