Kinship testing
The aunt/uncle – niece/nephew test performed by DNS Központ determines whether a biological (genetic) relationship exists between the child and the tested alleged aunt/uncle (typically the sibling of the alleged father) – that is, whether the sibling of the tested aunt/uncle is the biological parent of the examined child(ren). The sample collection is carried out independently by the customer using the kit sent by mail, and then returned to our office via standard or priority postal service, or delivered in person to our clinic.
Due to the complexity of the test, the result may sometimes not be as clear-cut as in parent–child relationships, such as paternity testing; in certain specific cases, the involvement of an additional person may be required in order for the laboratory to provide a reliable result. It may happen that no additional person can be included in the test, in which case the analysis does not yield a result; in such cases, the full amount paid will be refunded, so no financial loss will be incurred in connection with the test.
With kinship testing performed by DNS Központ, biological relationships between more distant relatives can be determined safely and accurately, especially in cases where the DNA sample of a direct parent (father or mother) is not available. The test offered in this category is designed to confirm or exclude a genetic relationship between an aunt/uncle and a niece/nephew.
Aunt/uncle – niece/nephew relationship test
This DNA test helps to accurately determine whether a genetic relationship exists between an aunt or uncle and a niece or nephew. The test is often useful in family or legal situations where the presumed common parent (the sibling of the aunt/uncle) is deceased or unavailable for sampling.
How is kinship testing performed?
During the test, DNA samples from both parties are analyzed. Sample collection is simple, quick, and painless, using buccal (oral mucosa) cells (“saliva sample”). In the laboratory, these DNA samples undergo detailed genetic analysis, followed by statistical evaluation to precisely determine whether a biological relationship exists.
How accurate is this test?
Kinship testing at DNS Központ provides highly accurate results. A biological relationship can be confirmed with at least 99% accuracy or excluded with 100% certainty. This allows you to clarify family relationships with complete confidence.
