Child + mother + alleged father
A paternity DNA test requires the participation of at least one child and one alleged father (the man whom the test is meant to confirm or rule out as the child's biological father). If the mother is available, her participation is strongly recommended. If a DNA sample is available from her as well, the laboratory effectively "subtracts" her DNA pattern from the child's, making the DNA segments inherited by the child from the father clearly distinguishable, so they can be compared with the alleged father's pattern far more accurately. The test carried out with the participation of the child, the mother, and the alleged father is the Trio test.
Child + alleged father
If the mother is not available, we can still perform the test. In this case we carry out several different laboratory procedures and the analysis is more complex, but you do not need to pay more for it. The test carried out with the participation of the child and the alleged father, without the mother, is the Duo test.
Multiple children and/or multiple alleged fathers
If you need to test more than one child, or if there is more than one alleged father, please let us know in advance. Additional children and fathers can be tested within the same examination, but every additional participant of this kind increases the test fee payable. Which test is right for you?
The Trio test (mother + child + alleged father) allows for a more accurate and faster evaluation, so we recommend it whenever the mother is available. The Duo test (child + alleged father) gives an equally reliable final result; only the analysis is more complex. The current price of both tests can be found in our price list.
