A traditional DNA-based paternity test is a reliable and accurate method to determine whether a man is the biological father of a child. The test can be conducted for one or more children and one or more alleged fathers, with or without the inclusion of a maternal sample. While the inclusion of a maternal sample can enhance result accuracy, it is not mandatory for the test to be performed.
The test is carried out using a painless buccal (cheek) swab, which can be conveniently collected at home by the client. Results are typically available within 10–12 days and can confirm or exclude paternity with a probability of up to 99.999%.

- Non-invasive prenatal paternity test: can be performed from the 7th week of pregnancy using fetal DNA extracted from the mother’s blood, completely safely and painlessly. This allows clarification of biological paternity even before the child is born.
How does a paternity test work, and what is its scientific basis?
Paternity testing is based on DNA comparison, during which specific DNA segments are analyzed in samples from the alleged father and the child. These DNA segments are unique to each individual, except for those inherited from biological parents. The test therefore examines whether the child’s DNA contains specific genetic markers characteristic of the alleged father. DNA profiles are generated using advanced laboratory technologies and then precisely compared, providing a clear answer as to whether a biological relationship exists.
